The educational system offers vast opportunities to today’s youth. While traditional High School is an option, not all students find success in this environment. For this reason, we review the many instructional options that may be a better fit.
While some students are less successful than others, it may be that their needs have not yet been identified. I offer guidance through the process of individual need identification and referral to appropriate services.
Post-secondary education offers two options: a traditional four-year degree and short-term career training. While some of us may solely focus on going to college, others must work to put themselves through school. For this reason, educational decisions must be made with all factors in mind. First, we must identify your desired lifestyle, determine the financial needs to meet that lifestyle, and choose potential career paths that support your lifestyle goals. Second, we must narrow down the options through the identification and application of a personality test, and interest and skill inventory. Third, we identify whether you will be going to a college / university, or completing short term career training, with which to obtain gainful employment and work your way through school. Fourth, we implement the plan by starting the chosen educational program. Fifth and final step is to engage in continuous evaluation of your progress and modify your individual plan as needed.
Career development consists of two main parts once you have identified the appropriate career during the Educational Planning – Post Secondary step. In the first part, we focus on the creation of a professional and well thought out resume and cover letter. These two documents are crucial to any successful job search. They will highlight your achievements and make them stand out. In the second part, we prepare for the job interview, which helps with identification of potential questions, and development of responses following the STAR method. Such preparation reduces anxiety and ensures excellent presentation of personality and professionalism during the interview.
In today’s day and age every aspect of our lives puts forth problems that needs solutions. While many problems can be resolved on our own, some require professional guidance. It is through review of individual situations and desired outcomes that a plan of action can be developed and implemented to solve each problem with little stress and time consumption to client.
Some jobs may require the writing of an essay as part of the application or interview process. In some instances, these essays are timed. The best way to prepare for this task is by learning my Writing Process, which teaches essay set up, writing, and evaluation to be completed in a timed manner. This approach has ensured that individuals in possession of the Writing Process skills write excellent and clear essays, while securing the desired positions and passing state tests such as the GED and HiSet.
